Ear & Hearing
The ear canal is a very small structure with many important and delicate structures built into a very small 3-dimensional space. The operating microscope allows the ENT surgeon to have a magnified and binocular view of your ear canal and the middle ear.
This is especially useful when assessing a young child, who may be apprehensive if a doctor tries to insert a speculum into his/her ears. With the microscope, It is possible to see a lot of the detail without needing to insert a speculum into the ear.
Even in the clinic, the operating microscope allows the ENT surgeon to perform various procedures with precision and optimal patient comfort e.g. microscopic clearance of the ear, removal of foreign bodies, myringotomy, intratympanic injections.
